Cheryl has a unique mix of academic and blue collar backgrounds which inform her style of inspection. Licensed since 2004, Cheryl has a 15 year background in union carpentry, and ran a general contracting business with her husband in Oak Park. Previous to that, she served as Adjunct Professor in the Anthropology Department at Loyola University for a few years.
Cheryl is a licensed home inspector and HERS Energy Rater who works in Chicago and the suburbs. An inspection exceeds the state requirements of reporting “significant deficiencies” in the “systems and components” of your property. Cheryl takes a comprehensive approach and discusses with you the long and short-term wants and needs for the property and how you can reasonably achieve them. She communicates her findings with you at the inspection and documents her concerns in a narrative, electronic report with digital photos that is easily accessed via website. She also provides clients with a copy of Mr. Fix-It's How to Operate Your Home (for houses) or Home Journal (for condos) at the inspection. Each book includes helpful illustrations and safety and maintenance checklists.
